The nameIt started as banter

Daktari Wa Tarumbeta is the stage name of Dr. Ian Miako, a Nairobi-based saxophonist who also happens to be a practising doctor. The name began as banter from a friend after a football match loss, and it stuck.

And yes, he plays the saxophone, not the trumpet. The name stuck anyway.

The beginningA high school brass band

Ian has played the saxophone for 14 years. He started in his high school brass band and spent years playing purely for the love of it.

Live sax for weddings and eventsOff the stage and among your guests

His sound is urban and soulful, backed by a large repertoire across Afro, soul, R&B, rhumba and gospel, and he takes requests.

He performs with his saxophone and a wireless microphone, so he can roam, interact with guests and bring the music to them instead of staying fixed on a stage. He also provides sound for events, so you have one less supplier to coordinate.

Ian is based in Nairobi and available for events across Kenya and beyond.
